Catholic Charities USA, the largest network of social service organizations in the nation – serving persons of all faiths – has initiated a multi-faceted approach to reduce poverty in the United States. The CCUSA Campaign to Reduce Poverty has an ambitious goal to decrease the number of families at or below the poverty line by 50%. The campaign stresses the need for businesses, faith-based organizations, government and individuals to come together to strategically address the systemic causes of poverty in this country.
Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph through Cycling for Change is continuing the campaign as a vehicle to generate energy around the poverty initiative, highlight local poverty issues, raise funds to benefit local programs and rally businesses and concerned citizens to work together to develop strategic solutions to the tragic issue of poverty.
